Pastor’s Word For 5/10/2026

This has been an interesting 7 days for us all as we attempt to balance our responsibilities with our realities. I was going to reflect on the number “76” for a deeper meaning in terms of how long it took Congress to re-approve funding to pay many of their Homeland Security employees after shutting them down in February. That was going to be my focus until I saw the number “76” from a different perspective. I received word that a former coworker couldn’t handle the pressure anymore after suffering other losses. I realized in learning this tragic event that we all may be hiding too much of our pain behind a smile. Too many of us are faking the joy while suffering in silence. We cry for help in many ways but we are so engulfed in our own pain that we ignore the cries in front of us. I want to put this out here right now: If you are feeling some type of way about life-reach out to 988 and speak to someone who WILL listen to you. You are NOT alone in this struggle. Talking to someone who’ll listen to you can help you find perspective in your current situation. 76 days for this person was 75 days too long for them and all we have now is a memory of a wonderful soul.
We thank you for listening to last week’s sermon: “Know Your Role.” It was an on time critical wake-up call for everyone to realize that we have a role to play and must get to it as too many things are trying to tear us down. If you haven’t listened to it, make sure that you take the time to do so. It’s a worthy 30 minutes of your time.
Get ready for our “Time/Out Revival” later this month on the fourth and fifth Sunday. It’ll be led by Elder Mason Curtis on the fourth Sunday and wrapped up by Rev. Dr. Ashley L. Dowden on the fifth Sunday. The scripture will be from Genesis 1:1-2. It’ll be two perspectives from the same text allowing us to take a time out from our usual outlook on the first two verses from the first book of the Bible. I’m ready and I’m hopeful that you get ready as well.
This Sunday’s message is: “The Time Is…” from Acts 1:6-8. This message will allow us to look at our time and God’s time differently than we normally do and I encourage you to check it out when you have the time to.
